Sailing into the Future: The New Zealand Sailing Trust at Viaduct Harbour Marina

The New Zealand Sailing Trust, based at Viaduct Harbour, offers young Kiwis life-changing sailing experiences aboard the iconic Lion New Zealand and Steinlager 2, fostering leadership, teamwork, and environmental stewardship.

At Viaduct Harbour Marina, we are proud to host the historic vessels of the New Zealand Sailing Trust, a community-driven initiative that continues to inspire and empower the next generation of sailors. Established in 2008, the Trust was born out of a desire to preserve New Zealand’s proud maritime legacy, especially the legacy of Sir Peter Blake and his esteemed racing teams. At the heart of the Trust's mission is the iconic yacht *Lion New Zealand*, a symbol of excellence, and *Steinlager 2*, another legendary vessel that rejoined the fleet in 2012.

Beyond their historical significance, these boats play a pivotal role in transforming the lives of young Kiwis. The Trust offers life-changing sailing experiences to youth from all walks of life, ensuring that every young New Zealander has the opportunity to develop leadership, courage, and teamwork on the open sea. Their programs, set in the stunning Tīkapa Moana / Hauraki Gulf Marine Park, teach not only sailing skills but also instill a deep appreciation for environmental conservation and the importance of safeguarding our marine ecosystems.

Through their work, the New Zealand Sailing Trust is not just preserving a piece of New Zealand's maritime history— they are shaping the future, one young sailor at a time. We are thrilled to have them as part of our vibrant marina community and look forward to their continued impact on the lives of future generations.
